Job Description
Find your purpose as a Senior Analytics Developer with CentraCare! The Senior Analytics Developer is a high impact member of the Center for Analytics team; responsible for advanced queries, data consolidation, data analysis, management reporting and building high visibility data products from disparate sources. Utilizes SQL and Power BI to generate cascaded interactive metrics and develop actionable recommendations. Collects, analyzes data and reports results as an Independent Contributor within small project team following Agile methodology. Strong verbal, nonverbal, written, and visual communication skillset: comfortable leading customer-facing requirement refinement sessions, translating complicated requirements into visually appealing data products, savvy at 1:1 peer-training for in-house up-skilling and dedicated to fostering team cohesiveness. Projects may support patient safety practices, financial efficiencies, hospital length of stay, workforce trending, quality metrics, and other strategic initiatives dependent on Project Team opening.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a qualitative field or three years of relevant technical experience may be substituted in place of an advanced degree.
  • 3 years experience with SQL Server/Azure SQL:
    • Views and stored procedures
    • Physical & in-memory temp tables
    • CTEs and sub-queries
    • Optimize code performance
  • 2 years experience with Power BI, Power BI Paginated Reports:
    • Basic and complex DAX columns/measures
    • M-query and utilize Native Query/Query Folding
    • Optimize query performance and visualization rendering
  • 2 years experience with Data Performance best practices:
    • Centralize SQL code for re-use in SQL and Power BI
    • Create shared and composite Power BI Semantic models to streamline creation and maintenance
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and/or problem solutions to endure completion within established timeframes.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, analytical, and multitasking skills required.
  • Ability to think creatively and work collaboratively to address problems.
  • Experience in a health care environment preferred.
  • Experience with any of the following data preferred: Epic, Oracle ERP, UKG, ServiceNow, StrataJazz

Core functions

  • Develop SQL Server views, stored procedures, and other advanced queries. Know when to use views vs. stored procedures, CTE’s, subqueries, physical and in-memory temp tables.
  • Develop and implement advanced reporting and coding standards in Power BI and Paginated Reports. Leverage varying storage modes, m-query code, and DAX to optimize query and rendering efficiency in the Power BI service.
  • Optimize relationship between SQL queries and Power BI to ensure high performance.
  • Build and maintain advanced queries, reports, report schedules and metrics in Power BI.
  • Debug existing reporting using Power BI.
  • Collaborate, mentor and share knowledge of coding practices and expertise with peer Developers.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA and corporate data security requirements for the storage and delivery of data.
  • Turn business requests into detailed report specifications, ensuring that all requirements have been captured, documented, and signed-off on by appropriate parties.
  • Create documentation for standards, processes, code, and reports developed.
  • Make continuous improvement recommendations regarding tools, architecture, and practices for data collection/reporting.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, curiosity, and finesse around continuous change: from modification and enhancement requests to ongoing structural and strategic evolutions.
  • Effectively engage with leaders, peers, technical colleagues, and data consumers to facilitate relationship building and achieve meaningful results together.

  4. Resolve discrepancies with data and instill stakeholder confidence in reporting accuracy
  5. Develops reporting for data governance including trends and statistical analysis of data quality and integrity
  6. Recommends workflow processes and procedures to monitor timely and accurate receipt and transfer of data
  7. Collaborates with stakeholders to gather business needs, establish scope of projects, manage project timelines, and meet deadlines
  8. Develops data preparation and validation routines to support data mining.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, engineering, health informatics technology or related field
  • Three years’ experience in data analytics with data mining experience

  • Master’s in data science or analytics

Summary of Position

The Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology (CBE) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) at Temple University seeks to recruit a Research Informatics scientist/faculty at the levels of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The new faculty member will carry a tenure-track or non-tenure-track faculty appointment in LKSOM within the Department of Biomedical Education and Data Sciences. Clinicians and non-clinicians are welcome to apply.

The CBE provides critical support for clinical, translational, and basic research at LKSOM. Our mission is to offer biostatistical and epidemiological research resources, develop clinical research programs, educate trainees in clinical research methods, and nurture collaboration across multiple disciplines. The occupant of this position will oversee Informatics activities at the CBE, including Temple’s participation as a PaTH PCORnet (National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network) site. In addition, this occupant will contribute to enhancing the Research Informatics infrastructure at LKSOM.

Qualified applicants will have M.D., and/or Ph.D. degrees, completed rigorous training, and demonstrated the ability to conduct independent, extramurally funded informatics research.
